Applying to Volunteer

To begin the application process, you will need to print and fill out an application.

Once you have filled out the application, please mail it to:

Stonewall Citizens' Patrol
ATTN: Ben Gomez
3815 First Avenue, Unit #104
San Diego, CA 92103

After the application process you will be asked to attend an interview with a couple of veteran volunteers.  This interview has two main functions.  The first is to let you know more about the Stonewall Citizens' Patrol; and the second is to ask you a few questions.  This process helps both parties know that we are a good fit for each other.  The questions we ask all volunteers are:

  1. Do you have any law enforcement, public safety, security, or military experience?
  1. Do you have a valid driver’s license, a vehicle, and a cell phone? How would you describe your driving record?
  1. Do you have any physical limitations or personal issues you want to share with us that might affect or limit your participation?
  1. Much of our patrol work is late at night; would that be your preference or would you prefer office duties including logistics, coordination, and scheduling of patrols by phone or e-mail?
  1. Our primary means of communication is e-mail; will that work for you?
  1. Would you like to be involved with fundraising events? Do you have any experience or skills in that area?
  1. Do you have any volunteer experience, especially with local organizations? Would you like to share anything about it? May we contact the coordinator?
  1. Are you willing and able to treat everyone equally regardless of gender, race, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, marital status, or political preferences?
  1. Are you willing to follow instructions about not becoming physically involved in incidents you might observe?
  1. Are you willing to commit to providing a minimum of three hours per month of patrol or related service for one year?
  1. Why do you want to volunteer with Stonewall? Is it part of community service?
  1. What do you expect to personally gain from it?

After the interview, a background check will be performed.  Once your application is successfully processed, you will need to do a ride-along with our veteran volunteers.

If you have any questions concerning the application process, please contact Ben Gomez at 619-450-6980.
